JPG vs JPEG — are they the same?
Yes. JPEG (Joint Photographic Experts Group) is the format name. .jpg and .jpeg are both valid extensions for the same format. Windows historically used 3-character extensions (.jpg), while macOS/Linux use the full .jpeg extension. They are identical in content and encoding.
